Resolver is a precise device for detecting angles, positions and speeds. It is applicable to all scenarios where rotary encoders are used, especially in situations where rotary encoders cannot function properly due to high temperatures, extreme cold, humidity, high speed, or high vibration. With the improvement of industrial automation levels, the requirements for energy conservation and emission reduction are becoming increasingly higher. It has significant advantages such as high efficiency, energy saving, and stability.

1. Basic principles:
Typical two-phase winding sine and cosine rotation:
Stator: excitation winding EXC, quadrature compensation winding (space 90°);
Rotor: SIN and COS two-phase orthogonal output windings;
Excitation is introduced with high-frequency AC voltage, rotor rotates, output voltage:
Usin=K*Uexc*sin¢, Ucos=K*Uexc*cos¢
K — transformation ratio; ¢—— Mechanical corner.
Key inherent characteristics: obvious load effects, output windings must not carry low-impedance loads; High accuracy for no-load and light loads, with waveform distortion under heavy loads.
2. Common Wiring Mistakes:
1) SIN and COS swapped → angle offset by 90°;
2) Single-phase reversed → angle direction flipped;
3) Excitation polarity reversed: usually doesn’t affect the angle, but the zero position may slightly change;
4) Disconnected or loose wires → amplitude close to 0, controller reports resolver signal loss.
