DC Brush Gear Motor

Construction and Working Principle

  • Motor: permanent‑magnet stator, wound armature (rotor) with commutator, carbon brushes, bearings, and frame.

  • Gearbox: planetary or spur stages to multiply torque and reduce speed; optional low‑backlash configurations and long‑life lubrication.

  • Control: straightforward polarity reversal enables CW/CCW; speed can be adjusted via voltage, PWM, or external driver. Performance depends on the combined design of the motor, gearbox, brushes/commutator, and assembly precision.

  • Simple installation and commissioning: "+ / –" wiring, easy CW/CCW reversal.

  • Broad application range; maintenance mainly focuses on brushes/commutator and gearbox lubrication.

Notes and Best Practices

  • Brushes and commutator are wear items; define duty cycle and expected service life (e.g., B10) under specified load and temperature.

  • Mechanical and electromagnetic noise depend on ratio, speed, and load; provide targets with test distance and method.

  • For EMI‑sensitive systems, we recommend suppression components (RC snubber, inductor, or EMI filter) and proper grounding.
