The application environment of explosion-proof motors
1、For motors in Class I environment (as defined by UL), where there are flammable gases, vapors or liquids, the design aims to prevent internal sparks or flames from escaping from the servo motor to hazardous environments. Their design limits the maximum temperature of the motor enclosure during operation to be no higher than the temperature of the environment where gases, vapors or liquids are present.
2、In Class II or Class III environments (as defined by UL), motor designs are made such that the temperature of the motor housing does not exceed the surface temperature of the flammable dust and fibers environment. Although simply operating the motor at a lower rated current can reduce the heat it generates, other methods to limit the excessive temperature of the motor housing include thermostats that disconnect the motor power supply before the motor reaches the critical temperature.
